Trees
« on: February 03, 2006, 03:00:46 AM »
Due to

our lack of central heating (my fault  :headbang:) when my father in law cut

down a couple of trees in his garden, he gave us a lot of logs to burn so we

didn't have to buy so much coal

But when they started to run

out, I mentioned to my dad that I didn't relish the thought of having to

buy lots of coal again, but didn't have any choice

He said

he'd been thinking of cutting down the hedge across the bottom of his

garden, so over the last few weeks, that's what I've been doing

/>
I borrowed a mate's chainsaw, and took out about 50 foot of

trees, which has made his garden look a lot bigger

Well, this has

sort of snowballed - my brother rang me to say he knew someone that wanted

some trees cut, then I got a message a friend of her's wants some cut

down too, and he told me last weekend that a customer he was doing a job for,

wanted a tree cutting down in his garden - so I went and did that Tuesday

afternoon after work, earnt myself £25 for about an hour and a half's

work

Been to look at the second job today, and

there are about five trees to be taken down, a row of 18 conifers to be

trimmed right back and the tops cut off, plus all the neighbour's

trees' overhanging branches too - reckon there's a couple of

weekend's of work there alone, not to mention the first job too

/>We won't be short of wood for a while

For me its only luxury, I have central heating, but in the evening I like

burning the woodstove.
And therefore am always looking for firewood too

If I

manage to get the central heating done before I run out of wood rob, I'll

give you first refusal on the leftover logs  :schilder034:

/>You'll have to collect them though, cos I can't afford to post

them

Got another job tonight, gonna try and get

over to have a look in the next few days, see how big a job it is

:lol:The beaches on the islands in the north sea are famous for attracting

flotsam, so if Iain ever puts the stuff 'overboard', I'll catch

it on Texel or Terschelling

If my

dad got his finger out and repaired his boat, I could sail them over to ya

hehe

Got another tree job yesterday, Jo's sister wants the

conifer hedge at the bottom of the garden cutting down - at this rate

I'll have to give up work to make time

Spent the day trimming

the hedge, so we can see what to cut and where - spent more time clearing away

the bloody hedge trimmings that actually cutting it

But next chance

I get, I should be able to top them all and thats one of her hedges finished

quite a job (I've got chain saw, hedge trimmer,140cc.  4 stroke

lawnmower etc. at the ready, you can borrow them if and when you bring the

Haha

borrowed a chainsaw, and my dad bought one so we have two, and he had his

hedge trimmer and I borrowed the customers, so it was a lot quicker with two

going - til he sliced through his power cable - but I have got  a decent

handsaw, loppers etc so should be able to cover most events I hope  :-\

/>

I appreciate the offer, but maybe you're too trusting

rob  ???

It's bad enough if you lend your neighbour your tools

and don't get them back, but a guy from another country you've never

met .....  :o

I'll be there by the time

you're read this hehe  ;)
