So I'm looking to check the valve clearances "when" my aliexpress special fairings show up and I was hoping somebody could let me know if there is still a source for rocker cover seals? I've had a quick search on the inter webs but nothing promising shows up? What are the chances it won't be destroyed when I remove the rocker cover or that replacements are still available?

On another note, the chain tension specs in the manual are a bit ambiguous on whether it should be checked on the side or centre stand?? Could anyone clarify if the 15-25mm slack is with the suspension weighted on the side stand or with the rear wheel suspended on the centre stand?

I only put a new rubber gasket twice there in the last 20 odd years, handle it with care and when not damaged you can use it again. Afaik they're still obtainable from Honda, or else look on www.cmsnl.com for the number, then search by that number on Google for the nearest to your home possibility...
Chain slack is set on the mainstand, the front sprocket sits quite some distance from the swingarm pivot point so never set it too tight, you can always check it after setting by sitting on the bike , especially if you're one of the weight challenged kind

Thanks, I’ve got the part number. Might just check with the local Honda dealer and see if I can get one on hand just in case before I start.

Not sure if you mean rather large or like a twig as weight challenged? 


I’m about 80 kilos so I’ll test it once I tighten it.

The big ones have the most problems, I'm just a tad lighter than you, not challenged in any way!
