New mirrors and clocks screen
« on: November 22, 2014, 13:35:08 PM »
Bye bye cracked screen and mirrors.

Put my speedo in another unit so i hope the rev counter doesn't have the restrictor in. Don't think my old one did as i never saw that speed light on?

Aftermarket mirrors as fed up with looking for used ones!

Mirrors look great did they bolt straight on without any messing?

Yes, they were slotted up to 60mm so fitted ok. I just needed bolts nuts and washers and I put some rubber washers round the mounting holes as well to stop the fairing vibrating and give a wider contact area.

Nice mirrors!
With the dash open you should have seen the restriction disc in the speedo, if not, no restrictor winky5a

Yep, it is restricted on speed, not revs....

Most of after market mirrors have less than 2inch bolt space config. However, RC27 has 55mm space between 2 bolts. So info about fittable aftermarket mirror is precious. (*1)
Please tell me exact vendor and model of your mirror,James.

*1 55mm means distance between center of each bolts.

Got them used off ebay but i reckon these are the same and now you can get ones with indicators in http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorcycle/mirrors/bike-it-trojan-mirrors

One of RC27 defects is poor rear view because original mirror has relatively short stay.

With Trojan mirrors, did you get improved rear view, James?

I've only been out once mind, rear view was better as no cracks in mirrors! But i think the position was about the same.

Thanks for your reply. With ebay, Trojan mirrors would cost me 5400yen(about US$49).
According to your opinion, I won't try Trojan mirrors. I will try ZZR1400 mirror which has 48mm PCD. But CBR750 genuine mirror has 55mm PCD. So I have to modify mirror base. But ZZR1400 mirror has longer stay.

I would like to correct wrong data in my post. At prior post, I wrote 55mm is RC27 mirror mounting bolt distance. But it isn't.
Correct data is 62mm.
So if you consider to replace RC27 mirrors, candidate mirror should be adjustable for 62mm bolt pitch.

I fully agree about the mirrors on the Hurricane - being a taller bloke I had to constantly duck to see behind me properly.  Mostly because they wouldn't twist high enough for me to see!  I've noticed they my Firestorm has wider mirrors because I have to squeeze my bike through a gate into my courtyard.  The Hurricane was easy, the Firestorm is very very tight!

That said, the Firestorm is easier to get in my backyard because it's not as wide - the low pipes on the Hurricane made it a real pain to manouvre into tight spots.
