No. However accurate the speedo was before, it will be the same.

Hi, I fitted a KPH to MPH Speed Converter.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Speedo-Drive-Unit-Speedo-Conversions-MPH-to-KMH-Speed-Converter/302181683608?hash=item465b6e9198:g:tF0AAOSw5Xxeococ

The bike had 6,000Km on it when I brought it in 2001, and the rest is all in miles. My mate has picked up a new old stock mirror, so that's a win.

All back together,  but without the finale paint patch-up. New battery, oil and filter, and runs like a Swiss watch. Passed the MOT with no problems. A mate is borrowing it for a while.

Thinks have got very slow but not stopped. 1st the Lacquer problem. No motor factors had any as with all the stay homers were buying it all up to do home projects ( just like me). I ordered 6 cans of U-POL but they never turned up, so with much to and throwing with the seller, I now have them. I had a good close look at the tabs and decided to sort them all out and reinforces others. I have also decided to paint the black part along the bottom of the 2 side panels. There is a paint outlet near me that uses a scanner to get a perfect colour match, then mixes and puts into an spray can, but are closed at the moment due to the lock down, so that is also putting things back. If there was no lock down, I would of just put the plastic on as it is for the summer. Just a couple of pictures of bits, but they will look good once fully finished.

Lock down it giving some to much time on there hands. I thought I would share my street view, which has me cleaning my bike a few years ago. I am surprised it is still there, as many streets have been updated of late. It is only that others have put there street view on other forums.

Thanks for getting back about it. The hacking  and phishing problems have seemed to of effected a lot of forums. I am on the  X-Trial-UK forum, and they had to stop new members joining, as bot's or nasty morons were posting tons of porn and links to sell items in Russia, which made the site totally unusable. It was impossible to find questions anybody was asking, to be able to help them. It has been a year now, and they still have not been able open the site up to the same standard as it used to be.

Hi, is there any way of changing the background on the pages? I find having white writing on a dark blue back ground a pain. I would prefer a white background with black print.

Thanks for the offer. I do think your ones do look a bit ugly. A got a massage back from the shop and they have flat glass, so no good. Yes they are 58mm hole centres, so a little filing is no problem for me as I am a engineer and working with metal all the time- well, when there is not a lock down.. I will keep looking, but not to fussed, as I have not had it on there for 19 years smile1004lol

All Technical Issues / Re: Derestricting (copied from the old website)
« on: April 20, 2020, 20:02:53 PM »
Hi, I done mine in 2001. But here are a couple of pictures of the circuit board. It is a case of opening up the display head. Take the screws out that hold the board in (pictures). Plug it back in whist the board on the outside of the unit and seal it with a bag so water does not get on it. This way, there is now red light coming on and it cane be put back to standard.

Hi, thanks about the GPZ900 mirrors. I can't find any that look like them on your bike. I have come across these on eBay, and they have 58mm hole centre, so could live with that. The other problem with most after market sold on eBay, is that the glass is flat not convex. The set in the link are convex.

DavidSilverspares but all there items on eBay. I am thinking of going for a set of these, as they will fit, but they don't suit the style

Looked at them. The CBR1000 on the 87/88  year look the same but are in fact different, and there is one on eBay. the VFR around that year have closer studs, so will not fit. The stud centres needed is 60mm.

Hi, new fork seals and float bowl seals. Oil and filter. Cleaned the chain and re-greased- and it is the original with no lost seals. Replaced the anti freeze, which was the original from new, and much to my surprise was still fine. I have just got the plastic out of the loft, and the right hand main panel could do with re-lacquering. It is the side that was always facing the sun when at work. It was in the garage at all other times.  One of the bottom tags has broken of the side panel. That's old plastic for you, though I think it got broken when it was shipped from Japan. Also were it was jammed into a container with umpteen other bikes, there is a friction hole were a foot page has rubbed in transit.  So that is now my next mission to get it all looking better, as I have the time.  I am not trying to get it perfect, as I want it to look original but to look good for a 33 years old. It is just the left hand mirror that I need to get hold of.

OK, have now got some up. I just need to get some 1.2mm Stainless Welding wire to put a few ties on the exhaust rap so that it doesn't unravel. The Stainless straps the rap come with can't be made very tight, plus not enough of them. I could of picked some up last week when at work for one day, but silly me forgot.. Once that is done, all the plastic will be fitted and more pictures uploaded. gribbin12
