All Technical Issues / 1988 Hurricane petrol tank breathers?

I had to remove the tank recently. On refitting I have connected the long breather pipe, which vents to fresh air. However there is another one which is about 30cm long. One end connects to the underside of the tank, it's then straight with a 90 degree bend at the end, the other end of the pipe not connected to the tank. The problem is that I can't see where it connects onto, I have scoured the area that the pipe would reach but nothing. It definitely connects onto something because there is a clip to secure the pipe. Can anyone help please? Despite the pipe not being connected at the moment the bike runs perfectly although fuel consumption is high, however this could be an unrelated issue. Thanks in anticipation.

Hi all, thankfully found this site having recently brought a 1998 Hurricane, I was beginning to think I may be on my own! The bike was being sold as a project or spares with no MOT but in very good all round condition. The intermittent starting fault was rectified, new tyres and front brake overhaul and it has now passed its MOT. Unfortunately the weather in the UK is dire and no real prospect of any meaningful rides until next year! So I will endeavour to use my down time in researching the bikes history and gathering any information I can find on the CBR 750 genus, which appears to be sparse! I have attached a couple of photo's. If anyone can shed any light on the bikes history, registration - E509 NOU, I would be very grateful and any links to owners manual or any other general information would be much appreciated.
