One step forward two steps backwards

One of the pilot jets is stuck fast in the carb, i cleaned it in the ultrasonic bath anyway, stuck it in the freezer, but no luck

NRP do pilot jets for around £5

Before dissasembly i noticed the choke on each carb was very stiff

On reassembly i cant find a spring, i cant remember if it was ever there, i normally assemble these parts dry, but im going to use the smallest amount of light oil on choke piston.

Have a found another complete set of carbs and a complete set of front calipers, master cylinder with braided hoses, a week of negotiation ahead

If i can get these parts together in the next week that would be great, after that we are on holiday in France for three weeks, so no progress on bike

Cheers

I have seperated the carbs. The bar that they are attached to was real bugger to undo, my friendly  custom chop frame builder String came to my aid. Check out raw steel custom frames for their work. The carbs have come up nice clean and i replaced the seals on the bottom .

I found a set of cheap cbr1000f clocksand swapped out the speedo. I then cleaned yhem and reattached to bike, if you do this try and be as clean as possible, i left a big thumb print slap bang in the middle so it all had to come apart again. I left the speed sendor attached and hanging loose at the moment.

Brakes are really bad, need to think which is the most cost effective option

Time to leave the garage

Thank you for the info

Week two

Had the dent in one of the downpipes fixed by my friendly local welder who also filled a small hole near the collector

The pipes are solid and ill prime them and paint at some point

Carbs are now ready to go in the ultrasonic cleaner do that next week

I need to replace the float bowl seals as they are all hard and show signs of leaking

The only place i have found that do these are NRP

The oil lines show signs of rust, are they tbe same as a cbr1000?

Brakes look badly corroded and need rebuild thats the next job

Everything seems to be coming apart easilt so far only two fasteners that needed cutting off to get the metal shrouds off the exhaust. Silencers are solid but rusted in places.

All going well and then disaster

Left hand down pipe has been squashed not completly flat but not good.

Tried to remove lower mount of radiator and its solid time to keave garage.

Good shout Rob

I shall widen my search

The exhaust from a distance looks bad, and I have been putting off a closer inspection, however late last night I rubbed a down pipe with some wire wool and it was like new underneath,  smile1004swing
